Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access, or Microsoft Office Access, is one of the revolutionary products developed, and first introduced, in 1992 by Microsoft. It is one of the products of the Microsoft Office system and one of the most popular database management systems available in the market today, with the latest addition being the Microsoft Office Access 2007. While the latter has added several new features to the series, Microsoft Access enables the user to not only use the stored data, but also develop more software applications. It helps programmers and software architects to create different desktop systems, which would help in the management of data. The product is known for managing, tracking and sharing information especially in a business environment. Microsoft Access has today become indispensable to businesses, irrespective of the industry and the scale of the organization, and to the IT sector, irrespective of the technical knowledge of the user. Easily accessible, scalable and compatible with SQL server, the latter offering also an additional back up to the Jet Database Engine, the built in database system in Access.

The interface of Microsoft Access can be used with any database alternatives including Jet, Oracle, Microsoft SQL server and ODBC. The Microsoft Office Access 2007 is one of the major upgrade to the preexisting product, namely Microsoft Access 2003. One of the major features of this product is the introduction of the Office Fluent user interface, the latter having made navigation extremely simple to understand, even for a first time user. While the forms, macros and templates are already built-in into the system, these can be customized to suit the user's needs. Thus, whether being used by only a small work team or across a larger section, it offers a host of features to track information. Features such as project tracking, asset tracking, contacts and issue tracking enable the user to get easy access to multitude forms of information. Same information can be presented in different report forms, thus offering good scope of report analysis. Tables can easily be created in the database in a way that Microsoft Access is powered to classify between the different forms of information.

Microsoft Access enables you to create customized forms and then send them to your colleagues. It also allows you to share all the required information with other team mates by using the web based SharePoint services. The latter also allows your clients to view different reports, thus offering greater interactive space for all. At the same time, it also allows you to store information in the archive and track changes in the process. Microsoft Access boasts of a comprehensive manageability of information, especially due to the fact that tables can be linked across the different sources of data, thus offering a better overview of it all. There are different products of Microsoft Access, targeted at different users, namely, Office Standard 2007, Office Professional Plus 2007 and Office Enterprise 2007. So while it empowers you to share information effectively, you can customize the features of the Microsoft Access to suit your specific business needs.
